Welcome to Kaycy's page of Amaryllis!
kaycy at kcff dot net
I did NOT cross pollinate any of these amaryllis!
I just pollinated each of the flowers with same kind floweres.
For instance: ONLY 'Desire' to 'Desire'.
I also hope pollinating these flowers didn't kill them.

I created THIS page not to show off my Amaryllis which I will do on another page but to show what is
happening to them and in so doing hoping that someone can tell me if what I am
seeing is normal or that something is actually damaging my plants.
I originally potted all the bulbs when I got them,
and once the leaves started dying off with the seed pods
and we started seeing bugs flying about the plants,
I removed them from the soil pots and placed them in jars with rocks/marbles, that can be seen in some photos.
The plants seem to be starting new leaves but still losing the seed pods. :(
Besides what the images show we have been seeing tiny gnatty type bugs flying around the base of the flowers.
Could these tiny insects be damaging the plants?
I also noticed the bulbs were feeling/looking really wet.  Once I removed them from the potted pot the bulbs seemed to regain their hardiness.

As for water/food for the plants,
I have been using water from our 75 gallon fish tank as through many years
of keeping fish the fish water was always a great way to 'feed' my plants,
as you can see a large population of Philodendron
growing out of the tank that have been allowing to do so since 2003.
(started with 6 plants that were only 5" tall in 2003,
this group has been cut back in 2003 and 2008 and accidently in 2010.)

Just a photo of our philodendron growing out of our 75 gallon fish tank. 12-09-11
This is a photo of our 75 gallon tank.
The larger goldfish are actually the parents of the two smaller goldfish!
new leaves of 'Red Lion' 1-06-12
I picked the Philodendron up off the floor and wound it around this little plant stand with the Red Lion Amaryllis.
