Photos of Sheba and Crystal!

We acquired Sheba on June 18th, 2003. We were driving along Main Street in Xenia, Ohio on our way to the post office. We were stopped at a red light and I looked over at the opposite corner from us and saw some people and a little black dog. I just mentioned seeing the dog to Gene and he looked too. It was so cute and little! We thought it belonged to someone there on the corner.

The light turned green and we continued on to our destination which was about 3 blocks from where we saw the puppy. Gene took our package inside and I waited in the van. When he finished, about 5 minutes after entering, he came out and there was the same little black puppy running in and out of traffic with out a care in the world! Gene rescued her before she got hit and looked up and down the road to see if anyone was going to claim her. No one did. Then he asked folks that were going into and out of the post office. Still, no one claimed her. After 15 minutes he brought her over to the van and handed her to me.

That is how we ended up with a beautiful little black shephard mixed puppy of about 2 months of age!

We took some pictures of her at the farm with her playing with Gene's 4 year old white german shepherd. We put several fliers up around town for 10 days waiting to see if some one would claim her. Still no one did. After the 10 days we found a home for her through a friend of Gene's. The lady had never owned a dog before and she had a couple daughters, one whom was married with a new born baby. They all fell in love with her!

We left on our merry way. Well, it wasn't too merry as I cried going home and for the next two days! She was such a beautiful little dog in personality as well as looks. She was a great escape artist though! (LOL) We finally got used to her being out of our lives. When we gave the woman Sheba, we had named her a few days after having her, that if at any time she felt she couldn't keep Sheba to give us a call and we would take her back. We didn't want the woman to take Sheba to the pound.

We finally got used to the idea that Sheba was in a great home and we would not be seeing her again. Well, the day before we were leaving the state for a vacation we got home late and there was a message on Gene's phone from the woman who had Sheba! This was on July 16th and we were leaving early the 17th! Gene called the woman and she said she needed to give Sheba back to us as Sheba was too hyper and they were worried about the new baby getting hurt by accident. Gene said yes but that since we were leaving town would she be able to keep Sheba till we returned that next Monday, the 21st, and she said yes. We left for our trip.

We came home on Monday as planned and met up with the woman to get Sheba back. Sheba had grown so big since we dropped her off at this woman's house! Her left ear that was flopped over now stood as erect as her other ear. She was so happy to see us and Crystal that I don't think she even gave the other family one thought! We drove from the meeting place to the farm and it was as though Sheba had never left!

Now, she is here to stay. Still the beautiful little puppy we remembered and still quite the escape artist! Which, we are still working on. The following photos are of her and her fun time playing with Crystal.

I have categorized these by dates because we have so many photos.
It also makes it easier to keep track of them as well.
